Inherit The Wind is the title of a fictionalized, 1960 movie about the 1925 Scopes “Monkey” Trial, starring Spencer Tracy, Fredric March, Harry Morgan (from M*A*S*H), and Dick York (Bewitched). It's also a line from Scripture, specifically, Proverbs 12:29, which says,
He who troubles his own house
will inherit the wind,
And the fool will be servant to the
wise of heart.
A person's own house can be literally his own household, his own family. It can also be his tribe or community, the city where he or she lives, or even . . . a whole nation.
Those who trouble their own house are hurting it, rendering it less functional than it was before they started, and if left unchecked, will ultimately destroy it. This is why they will inherit the wind, because that's all that will be left; the moaning of the wind through the empty ruins.
And the foolish person – the person who says in their heart there is no God, Psalm 14:1 – will wind up serving those who are wise when they discover they have nothing left of their own.
Let me ask you, doesn't this sound like the protesters wrecking havoc on our city streets nationwide? Doesn't it remind you of the Democratic (so-called) Senators and Representatives in Congress vowing to oppose any and all of President Trump's initiatives and appointments? Doesn't it sound like activists judges usurping his authority over national security?
It goes without saying they don't believe in God, therefore they are fools. And they are troubling their own house – our country. The end result of their reckless lawlessness, if left unchecked, will be the destruction of America.
Therefore, let us, we Christians and observant Jews, oppose them will all manly vigor, to humble them and force them into our service where they will be serving God, even if they don't know it.
It's about time they did.
